EDS ECHO Summit: Fatigue

This presentation will delve into headache disorders and their intricate relationship with fatigue. The session will commence with an introduction to headache disorders and fatigue. This will be followed by an in-depth look into the pathophysiology of fatigue specifically in the context of headache disorders. The session will outline the various types of headache disorders that are commonly associated with fatigue. Recognizing the profound impact of fatigue on those plagued by headaches, the lecture will delineate its effects and the challenges it presents. The sessiob will further extend to the management and therapeutic strategies employed to combat fatigue in the backdrop of headache disorders. The lecture will conclude by discussing the prognosis and long-term outcomes for patients grappling with fatigue in the context of their headache disorders.

Professor Manjit Matharu is a Professor of Neurology at UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, Visiting Professor of Neurology at the Department of Neuromedicine and Movement sciences, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim, Norway and Honorary Consultant Neurologist at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London, UK. He is the Clinical and Academic Lead of the Headache and Facial Pain Group at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, respectively. His major research interests include trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias, neurostimulation for intractable headaches, spontaneous intracranial hypotension and other headache disorders in hypermobility syndromes. He has authored numerous scientific papers. Professor Matharu is a Core Team Member of the International Headache Society (IHS) Regional Outreach Programme, President of the Medical Advisory Board of the CSF Leak Association and Chairperson of the UK CSF Leak Special Interest group.
