“If you’ve never been dunked on, you set your bar too low”. Too damn right! Fantastic analogy.

@welcometothehumanexperience

I went to one of the Basketball 🏀 summer Camps John Amaechi was talking about in Manchester England and I remember him talking to a group of us one evening after a day of drills and games and him being so adamant that the NBA is not the dream we necessarily thought it is... He was talking about the demanding schedule and what life you actually miss out on especially as most dream of being a star player on a NBA team and reality is most become role playing journey men who have all the sacrifice still without the freedom to play how they want, admiration, or big contracts. It made an impression on me, put things in perspective and remained in my mind over 18 years later... now I see my main adult careers as a Prison officer and Ambulance Technician as equally if not more of a blessing 😊 as they to me anyway gave me more real and personal connection and insights to the people/ world around me! So I totally respect John Amaechi being a Psychologist first and Professional basketball player after 👏🏽

@factorfitness3713

I spent most of my life focused on how little effort I could put into something and still not fail. I got pretty good at it. Unfortunately it left me without the skills and experience to actually chase the things I really wanted.

@Chatoyancify

The challenge lies in finding what is truly worth paying the FEE for, when nothing seems compelling enough. More frustrating still, the one program that does intrigue me is offered only across the ocean at Oxford, an option foreclosed to me by midlife and circumstance. So perhaps, if I am honest, even that program might not be enough. I envy those who find the object of their FEE.

I’ve been journaling for 30 days straight and the emotional clarity is insane.

You are not the voice in your head - That was soo powerful! <3

@kritzzy11

The bit about people only caring about the minimum effort that they can get away with induces a lot of perspective. We are simply shortchanging ourselves this way. Ty!

This guy makes so much sense. Very serendipitous that I stumbled upon him.

@Sportsbikeguy

That explanation of resilience is the best I've heard yet. The dip is where you truly discover who you are. That's when you muster your mind, body and spirit to rise from the ashes like a phoenix.

@mayaramirez9244

I am obsessed with this

@ElennaFortis

The voice in your head isn’t always critical.
Sometimes it’s cautious, wounded, or just tired of being disappointed.
Giving 100% isn’t just about drive. It’s about knowing you’re finally in a space safe enough to go all in.
