桃山・江戸時代の京都の東西を走るメインストリート「正面通り」。秀吉が整備し、家康も関わったと言われています。しかし、一体「正面」とは何の正面なのか？この正面を目指しつつ、京都の歴史を感じる名所も感じながら、散策していきます。
今回は前編です。
The main street, "Shomen-dori," runs east-west in Kyoto during the Momoyama and Edo periods. It is said to have been builted by Hideyoshi and Ieyasu was also involved. But what in the world is the "front" of? While aiming for this "front", I will walk around Kyoto, also feeling the historical landmarks of the city. This is the first part.
