Who here likes customizing their dashboard for fun? I might be in the minority but I absolutely love it! It feels like I'm pushing out my own software updates that always make things better.
Tip... For your doorbell feed, you don't have to have a separate button to control the door lock when the doorbell feed is showing. You can actually have the door lock control visible within the view. Just go to the picture glance card configuration and under Entities (required), choose the front door lock as the entity. This way, it will show the lock icon at the bottom, within the camera feed view and you can just touch the lock icon to control it.
Fantastic tutorial Reed! Hoping to see some more like this. Thank you for taking the time to share!
Putting this video together was a real service. Thank you and well done.
Great video. Been finally making decent dashboards and this helped a lot. Unlike some, I'm loving the home assistant coverage.
Great video!! This was what I needed for my dashboard idea and layout!
I was a bit demotivated because I didn't know how to perfect it anymore. Selector and bubble cards are what I need.
Thanks for your ideas and tips on how simple a dashboard should look and with small adjustments that extras are displayed is very useful💯
Keep motivating us and teach us more🤓😙
I'm using home assistant since January, and I've created something similar! You're just following common sense rules👌👌👌👌
I personally never liked dashboards. I set up my smart home so that I don't need a dashboard. My thought was, If I have to open an app on my phone then I might as well just walk over and turn on the lights manually. I set everything up to use voice control, routines and sensors. It has been a "set it and forget it" setup so far.
Great video as always! I redid my whole dashboard last week! And it's way cleaner than before! Even vombined my tv remote with my chromecast tv remote and more!
Love your videos especially the outros. I swear it's like someone else is feeling exactly the pain (and joy) I feel. This one hit especially hard
I've been building out a tablet dashboard with a similar room selector like your drop-down. I've been using a TON of vertical and horizontal stacks and thought "there's gotta be a better way to do this" I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this.
This video is great! Lots of fantastic ideas in here!
That select card is pretty nice. A great way to minimize the screen. Thanks for sharing how to use it!
Good stuff as always, Reed! I need time to simplify my dashboards and this was extremely helpful.
The Outlaw Torn is such an epic.
So glad I found your channel. I have such a disparate pile of technology and really need to get a better grasp on consolidating and automating. Your channel seems like it may be of help. Subbed!

Great video, I don’t think I’ve seen one that takes this rules approach before and it’s really smart!
Great video! One tip I would add is that one of the first things you should see on a dashboard are notifications of important stuff or actions that should happen. For example, a light that's on that shouldn't be. Or, something that's off that should be on. (Even if you create routines or the like to "self heal", some things should have a notification that it happened.) Also, stuff like the mail has been delivered, washer or dryer is done, etc.
I know you already do that in your dashboards, based on previous videos, but I think this should be a tip by itself.
Implemented a lot of this into an updated dashboard I’ve been working on. Thanks!
