Northern Ireland saw outbreaks of violence last week, which the police said had been orchestrated by paramilitaries.
20 years since the Good Friday Agreement, these outlawed groups - synonymous with atrocities from the past - are still said to be intact and recruiting.
But why do they still exist? And how do they still maintain such a seemingly potent grip in certain communities?
