Ahead of a very soggy looking Japanese Grand Prix this weekend, all the talk has been about Red Bull and their driver situation. In fact, it has dominated the headlines so completely that for a fortnight, it has felt like there is actually only one team on the grid. Obviously though, that isn’t the case, and now that we are back into a race weekend, the focus can switch back to the actual racing. The top of the pack at the moment is very clearly McLaren. Their 1-2 finish at the Chinese Grand Prix was pretty dominant, though Lando Norris’ late race brake issues nearly ruined that. Heading into this weekend's race, they are the strong favourites even with the terrible weather forecast, but Lando Norris has claimed that it isn’t their car that is to thank for their impressive performances so far. He claims that it is the rest of the grid failing to perform which has allowed McLaren to capitalise, specifically calling out other teams drivers for not being good enough. Today, I’ll check what he had to say and why McLaren should be heavy favourites at Suzuka, so don’t go anywhere.

Lando was also the loudest about how easy winning is when you have the fastest car, calling other drivers out, when Lando didn't have the fastest car.

His feelings are valid. If you're an elite athlete, you need to believe you're the best regardless of how good you actually are. Confidence is absolutely fundamental on that level, especially in a sport where victory can be less than half a second away from failure.

All that yapping aside, Lando needs to shut tf up and drive 🥀

It's almost like Lando is trying to humble brag but instead he sticks his foot in his mouth every time. It's going to be super embarrassing if at the end of the season McLaren have another constructors championship and Lando is 2nd in the drivers to a driver who's team finishes 3rd or 4th.

I'm gonna take a chance a go ahead and say that, the alpine doesn't like bumps near corners at the high speeds part of at least some tracks while being run super low.
