When two friends travel to Nepal for the adventure of a lifetime, they could never have imagined the disaster that awaited them. Jaime Everett and Michael Matthews joined a mountain expedition to climb Mount Everest in May of 1999. The men would face unreal challenges to attempt to summit the mountain.
https://www.buymeacoffee.com/fatalbreakc I just created this option if you want to support the channel. These videos are all researched, written, edited and animated by me. This really helps to support the work I do. Thank you so much!

Imagine if FatalBreakdown Pins this.
Things I've learned watching this amazing channel:
-no caves
-no ships
-no diving
-no dams
-no escape rooms
-when they say, "sit tight" you better move as fast as you can
-no expeditions on the Everest
i really, really enjoy taking naps in my warm and cozy bed, listening to your videos and not being stuck on a ice cold mountain or crawling through narrow moist caves waiting for death..
The worse thing about this channel is that, the videos are so good that I've burned through all of them in a couple of days.
I've watched numerous channels on disaster videos, but none of them even come close to you. The explanations, the graphics, the whole vibe, you are far, far at the top the pile, keep it up!
40k EACH and the climbing company couldn’t even get them the correct oxygen tanks? Come the fuck on.
When your Sherpa tells you to go back down, you go back down, especially if you're an inexperienced/1st timer climber. Don't let your ego get in the way and risk not only your life but also others.
UNBELIEVABLE that they used incompatible tanks and regulators
The best thing about climbing Mt Everest is you don't have to
" Climbing mount Everest isn't for everyone " you're right, I like living.
My Dad's coworker climbed Everest. I believe she paid $40 grand. We watched her dog while she was gone. Can't remember how far she made it but I know she almost died and has permanent vision problems now.
Also I get so excited when I see you uploaded!!!
European viewer here, Thank you for providing the altitude Levels in metric system and not only feet, helped me a lot!
At least when dying in a cave your body is found and known, even if unrecoverable. But when dying in a mountain even being found is a privilege. At -40 degrees he won't even decompose, he'll just lay somewhere forever.
What makes a good climber and leader? Being able to see the peak and still turning back if conditions demand it.
That’s what a speaker I’ve seen at a couple business conferences who has summited many peaks including Everest told us. He’s had to do that so many times, despite how upsetting it was to him and those with him, but you don’t get to negotiate with environments like these.
Watching FatalBreakdown videos is better than binge watching Netflix.
Making them come down just to go back up is pretty fucked.
ngl these vids are good, he sticks to the story and doesn't fill it with personal opinions like others do; unbiased work is the best.
This was the best description of the challenges of climbing Everest, thanks.
While i can appreciate Mike smith helping Michael realize his dream, as a guide, that goal should be secondary to keeping the customers in your care safe.
At no point should Mike have let Michael's desire to reach the summit overrule his professional duties
The level of dedication and exertion that some people are willing to put in, just to become a landmark on Mt. Everest, is quite remarkable...
