In this talk, Lorena Arancibia Carcamo, a research scientist and group leader at the Crick, shares how scientists are developing an understanding of how disease progression occurs and what role genes play in the risk of any of us developing Alzheimer’s. She also explains how we may now be a turning point for Alzheimer's disease, and how soon we'll be able to develop new therapies and offer hope to patients and their families. Over the course of our lives, over half of us will be devastated by Alzheimer’s disease, either by developing it ourselves, or caring for someone who has it.
Her research shines a light on the complex multicellular processes within our brains that may cause this disease.
