Introducing the latest mix of retro smooth jazz & fusion from 1982-1992. This four hour playlist highlights some of my favorite cuts from the past, all from my archive of CDs & LPs. To me, this "era" was the peak for jazz/fusion music, later coined "smooth jazz", although to me it is much more than that blanket term. Once synthesizers hit the scene in the late '70s-early '80s, and other styles (funk, rock, R&B, etc) began fusing with traditional jazz styles, what was born was a new form of accessible yet progressive, vivid and contemporary sound that so many inspired artists evolved during that time of musical prosperity and creativity. I hope you enjoy this playlist of some of the best-of-the-best from the golden era!
If you are new to my channel, please subscribe! You will be presented with the best of progressive jazz and fusion just like this, and so, so much more!!

I too am very fond of the jazz/fusion from that era. I remember it so well, it was a diaspora of sound
@Featheon
Now that Smooth Jazz Nation Power stopped uploading, I think I’ve found my new daily driver.
@a18yearoldonyoutubeluigi
20:24 yeah that’s a BOP in my books.
@Woter_X
This is that smooth jazz I heard when I was 5
@TheOnlyRiktor
it is so nice to be able to come to your channel to hear Jazz fusion I've never heard before. and LOADS of it. thanks a lot for uploading. I used to listen to Pat Metheny, the Rippingtons, and Mezzo Forte when I was a teenager in 2004. So wild to hear the tones and sounds of it all again.
@marissabillups8389
Thank you for uploading the music again, Kyle. I miss the smooth jazz sound from the 80s/90s. It brings me back. 90s nostalgia.
@EdwardPigg-ji4yy
I love the fact that you put music from Frank Gambale on this mix. He is a monster guitar player and I know that not all of his music is for everyone but thank you nonetheless.
@raulroteaarbon3179
This is one of my favorite choices of background music (fusion jazz) everytime I do my stuff creating art in my little studio.
@jammck1399
This is what brought me into this type of smooth jazz around 1981 just only 1.
Thank you much for this 80s jazz
compilation
@niXity9000
1:00:21 Such a great one. 1 in the morning, finishing up some work and going on vacation after that.
@field.of.dimensions_music1
I probably didn’t even know a tenth of the artists that were jamming fusion in the 80’s but yet I feel at home as if I knew them all. Thanks for reviving real music✨🙌🏼✨🎵✨
@jazzista1967
Kyle: listening while having a Macallan 15 at home! What a nice selection. Thanks for bringing great memories.
@errolbaptiste
Thank you for the amazing instrumental tracks of Jazz Fusion during the 1980s and 1990s from my late teenage years and twenties.
@LeeDfined

@AlanFernandoGamino
Dave Grusin & Harvey Mason's biggest tracks in (1982) with Grusin's Groove!
🥁🎹🎸📻🎧🎶🎵🍾🍷🥂
@trudywretched
To my ears at least, one musical thread running through this lovely selection is the strong influence of the musicians Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays.
@umutgunn
What a beautiful mix this is.
