Okay, i think its finally time. I HAVE AN UPDATE ON MY THEORY: to make it easier, i will describe the charactwrs by the colour they appear as in this video.
Its clear blue guy has had a previous relationship with red girl now, but has had some issues with remaining a connection with her within that relationship. Leading to them agreeing to break up and part ways, though possibly making blue guy struggle with the loss of someone who DID love him? Or.. Perhaps the loss of someone he didnt use to care for? Because he averts his gaze away after it gets dark when he's with the red girl. Which, leads me to believe they initially had a good relationship, before blue guy may have started to lose interest in her until the last second? Expressing a mix of grief, loss, and regret in his gaze AFTER he lets go of red girl's hand. But afterwards, he begins to go into this stalker-like state to pursue pink boy. At the end, we can see red girl being replaced by pink boy, so i can assume with context, that blue guy feels a sense of shame or guilt in feeling like it's only going to repeat again despite how he feels. This can also be proved by the start of the short with blue guy reaching his hand out to pink boy, clearly WITH the intention to help, but finding himself unable to do so with the blades on his body. Blue guy doesnt want to hurt pink boy, but its clear that he has to let go of a few things before he can be ready to love pink boy in a healthy way that works for the both of them. (This was kinda half-assed, so I'll try to make a more accurate analyzation when im not eating.)

Oh, this mistery backstory is continuing... AND I LOVE THAT. ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT. I see it now, like: our big guy was in relationship with the girl, they loved each other for some time, but at one moment he met our second little guy and fall for him, loosing even his last week feelings at his girlfriend away. And he's feeling really unsure and maybe shamed(?) of feeling like that(bc his girlfriend looks like she still loves him, but noticed how he's trying to still love her, but he just can't). And I also love those colour decide: girlfriend and new love interest being both pink(and as I think being a bit look alike for the first look). I love this YouTube creator, his/her(sorry, dont know how to call..) characters and animations:) Cant wait to see all about those lovely boys^^
