Despite the collapse of the Norwegian centre-left governing coalition, some parts of the Norwegian left believe that they might be able to reset as a Labour-minority government. In this video, we're taking a look at why the coalition collapsed and whether Støre’s new cabinet can recover before the next election.

As a norwegian it's always so weird to see us on TLDR.
The Norwegian left? Without saying goodbye? 😞😞
As a norwegian, I'm from Norway
I am norwegian and must say that this video is a very accurat short summary of the situatuon. Good job
1:54 There was more going on there. The Centre Party were pretty clear from the start that they didn't want to govern with Socialist Left, and apparently managed to convince Labour. When Socialist Left arrived at the negotiations for the new government platform, they were faced with a series of non negotiable demands for them to even be admitted. Having been through a similar process with the same two parties some years before, they chose to instead withdraw from the coalition.
As someone who isn't a Norwegian... I appreciate the comprehensiveness of this video...
Small error: 7:08 That isn’t the centre party (SP), but the socialist left party (SV)
It's not about closing the interconnections with Denmark totally. Currently there are 4 cables crossing the Skagerrak with a total capacity of 1700 MW. The suggested policy is not to renew cables 1 and 2 with a total capacity of 500 MW.
I find it baffeling that Germany turned off it's nuclear power plants. They should never have done that.
As an estonian, i am intrigued by the news of this
As a Norwegian I'd like to state that most of these so called scandals are quite over dramatized by outsider media.
Stoltenberg is very popular, and I would also argue that the Trump situation also have given him an even bigger boost, since he is considered a safe haven in unstable times and can help stear in difficult times in the current world situation.
So that has given Labour an extra boost in my opinion, as its been a combo of Stoltenbergs popularity, and also the current world situation.
Electricity is essential in Norway since it is our primary energy source, and in winter, heating demands are high.
The problem is Germany—not only did they shut down their own nuclear power plants and rely on Russian gas, but they also refuse to introduce more price zones for different regions. Sweden has also pointed out this issue: if Germany wants to be part of a shared electricity market, they should at least follow the same rules. Instead, they’ve created a problem for themselves and for colder countries that depend more on electricity. Germany can buy more gas from Norway, but they shouldn’t drive up our electricity prices in the process.
I feel some context is missing around the spike in energy prices: Costs of living in Norway have been quite high for a long time, with electricity being pretty much the only thing that's been cheap. So while the effects of increased electricity costs have been direly felt, the room was already full of elephants.
Keep in mind that whenever the price in an area in Norway reaches above 0.064€/Kwh the state subsidies 90% of the price of power to homes. (Not cabin or businesses)
Small correction: we hsve 4 cabled to Denmark. Only the 2 oldest would be closed after 2026, we will still have connections to Denmark, Sweden, UK, Netherland, Germany.
Seeing a center left party start thriving is crazy rn
There are 3 red lines in the voting intention plot, but the two lower lines have indistinguishable red coloring (SV and R). When you have colors in lines, instead of surfaces, you need to choose tonalities (of red) that are sufficiently distinct.
my worry is how entering the EU could affect the sovereignty we have over our massive minerals fields. no minig fond has been established and the EU is putting sanctions on us right now for halting the development of new mines. A techy EU will demand allot from us. Not to mention the enormous damage this could have on our wildlife and our own well being. presently the mining industry in Norway is extremely controversial and not well handled. If we decided to stay out of the EU, our agency could perhaps make us manage it better and in our interest, much like how we did with oil. i believe this is the most pressing issue in Norway, though its almost never brought up in debate.
Speaking as a Norwegian who has always supported the Labour party (thats by bias). Most Norwegians love Stoltenberg, we do not care much for Støre (current PM)
