Air Force Special Reconnaissance is the newest Air Force Special Warfare career field. Coming from the Air Force Special Operations Weathermen Teams (SOWT), Air Force Special Recon was established in 2019.
Special Recon operators play a pivotal role in Air Force Special Warfare, and are experts in multi-domain reconnaissance. Despite Special Recon’s capabilities and impact on the battlefield, they don’t have the same name recognition as other special operations forces do. Plus, as a brand new career field, many aren’t aware of what they do as a whole.
That’s why we’ve teamed up with Trent, an active duty Special Recon Operator from Ones Ready. Ones Ready is a podcast of three AFSPECWAR operators who are dedicated to spreading the word about Air Force Special Warfare.
If you’re interested in learning more about Air Force Special Recon’s capabilities, training pipeline, and much more, watch this video!

As a veteran of the U.S. Army, I'm here to shed a tear for our bastard child and tell the Air Force that we are so proud of what it has grown up to have become.
It’s crazy that people see “Air Force” and automatically discredit these special operations forces as “lesser” than the other branches, when in reality the AFSOC operators often exceed expectations when embedding with other branches
From 1988-1992 I was USAF weather observer (army support). It's amazing to see how much that career field has changed. Upon my arrival at Ft Polk after my 10 week tech school for basic meteorology I got a crash course in advanced infantry done in house. That's how it was back then. It's good to see how this field has advanced to what it is today.
I have a friend who was a combat controller for 24 years in the Air Force and is retired now and he has told me some crazy stories and missions he went on. He’s a bad a— and a nut.
USMC.. with combat action. Hats off to PJs. Most don't know, but when the expensive guys get into a bind, it's the PJs that get them out.
So great to see Trent in your video! im a big OnesReady viewer & thanks for the shout out for Air Force!
Had a chance to be attached to JSOC, the SF dudes were as imagined, along with the marines..first time I even heard of the Air Force SOWT who was someone I worked closely with. It’s weird when you see the Clark Kent/Superman effect when working with these kind of guys, people you don’t imagine being in that tier but just are.
As a Marine at 3D Rad Bn I’m also gonna cast a vote that you make a video on Radio Recon
Crazy damn cool to see you connecting the a direct source! Ones Ready is legit. Great video
This was a great video. I think you guys should do more collab vids where we have content creators who are former or current SOF operators and support troops speak about their jobs and what to expect if someone is interested in joining.
Ones Ready is a dope channel. Been a fan for a few years now. Great episode, General D!
I think the most important thing that's happened in special operations. Moving into their own military occupational specialties within their own respective services.
Love your voice man, but I love the humility of General Discharge even more. Great vid, keep em coming
Without this breakdown it seemed like a really weird transition (from weatherman to spec recon). But it makes sense now. Great video brother
This channel already has videos on it, but one of the awesome and unique things about air force special warfare is their tier1 unit (24th sts). How does it compare to delta force and devgru? That would be like asking how does delta force compare to delta force and how does devgru compare to devgru?
The reason I say that is because they are a part of delta and devgru. They fight alongside the assaulters of those teams, acting as a a force multiplying augmentation to those units, and they get trained on the stuff the unit theyre joining does. That means not everyone in a SEAL team is a SEAL.. as theres also AFSOC guys in those teams.
I feel like Special Reconnaissance in the Air Force is if you are the best of snipers alongside ISR altogether.
I am a SWO for the USAF rn, and after my contract is done i am planning on going Special Recon once im done with college and my Job in the USAF.
They're still the chair force. Only thing is, they will take a chair apart, cross half the country and eliminate you with a bolt! These guys are top notch and have my respect.
Rock on Brother
Never new of this recon unit.
