The Marías are an indie pop band from Los Angeles, California, known for their blend of bedroom pop, jazz, and psychedelic influences. The group was formed by vocalist María Zardoya and drummer Josh Conway, who began collaborating in 2016. Their debut EPs, Superclean, Vol. I (2017) and Superclean, Vol. II (2018), helped establish their signature sound, characterized by soft vocals, bilingual lyrics, and smooth instrumentals. In 2021, they released their first full-length album, CINEMA, which received a Grammy nomination and critical acclaim. Songs such as “Cariño” and “I Don’t Know You” contributed to their growing popularity in the indie pop and bedroom pop scenes. The band's music is often described as atmospheric and nostalgic, drawing inspiration from film scores and vintage aesthetics.
