UK Pauses Israel Trade Talks Over Military Conduct in Gaza

The UK announced a series of measures to punish Israel over its actions in Gaza, joining international efforts to ramp up pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. While Foreign Secretary David Lammy reaffirmed his support for Israel’s right to defend itself in the wake of the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks by Hamas, he called the country’s latest actions “morally unjustifiable” in remarks to the House of Commons on Tuesday. “It’s wholly disproportionate, it’s utterly, utterly counterproductive,” Lammy told Parliament.
