Yamanaka hot spring is one of the Kaga hot spring towns. Kaga hot spring Village is a general term for hot spring resorts that spread across Kaga City and Komatsu City in Ishikawa Prefecture, and is a collection of four hot spring resorts, also known as the "Kaga Four Hot Springs" of Awazu hot spring, Katayamazu hot spring, Yamashiro hot spring, and Yamanaka hot spring. Each has a different charm and you can enjoy the historic hot spring culture.
Yamanaka hot spring is a hot spring resort with a history of 1,300 years, with the legend of the opening of Hakusan by Yukiki, who opened the mountain. Matsuo Basho is also known to have stayed. The hot spring town is maintained as the "Yuge Kaido", where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the four seasons with tasteful inns and restaurants. Recently, as "Ice Street", each store offers ice cream with ingenuity.
Yamanaka lacquerware has a history of more than 400 years and continues to innovate according to the times while preserving tradition. It is known as the largest wood-based potter's wheel grinding production area in Japan, and is produced by the advanced skills of craftsmen.
Yamanaka Bushi, which is sometimes considered one of the three major folk songs of Japan, is also famous.
kakusenkei is a valley that spreads along the Daishoji River, which flows through Yamanaka hot spring, and has a promenade of about 1.3 km. The valley is dotted with strange rocks, and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the four seasons. Typical spots include the Koorogi Bridge, which is a cypress bridge and a symbol of Yamanaka hot spring, the Ayatori Bridge, which features an innovative S-shaped design and was designed by flower arranger Hiroshi Teshigawara, and the Kurotani Bridge, a concrete arch bridge with a retro atmosphere.
In addition, from spring to autumn, the "Kakusenkei Riverbed" is open, where you can enjoy tea and sweets supervised by Mr. Rokusaburo Michiba, a native of Yamanaka hot spring, while admiring the beautiful scenery of the valley.
