This charming Tudor mansion has been home to many notable families, most recently the Brunner family, who resided here from the 1930s until it was bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969.

The most significant families who owned Grey's Court before the Brunners were:

The Grey Family: The estate is named after the Grey family, who were the original owners in the medieval period. The estate has been in their hands since around the 13th century and remained with them for several generations. Their legacy is still evident in the architecture and layout of the house and grounds.

The Knollys Family: In the late 16th century, Grey's Court passed into the possession of the Knollys family. Sir Francis Knollys, a prominent courtier of Queen Elizabeth I and a key figure in the Elizabethan government, lived there. His descendants, including his daughter Lettice Knollys, who was married to the Queen's favourite, Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, also had ties to the estate.

The Wyndhams and Barne Families: In the 19th century, Grey's Court passed to the Wyndhams and later to the Barne family through inheritance and marriage. The Barne family owned the estate until it was sold to the Brunners in the 1930s.
