Night Games (1980) - Shopping scene

In 1980 John Barry scored this unsuccessful erotic thriller. He was at the height of his career, having just scored The Black Hole and Moonraker, and soon following this with Somewhere in Time, Raise the Titanic and Body Heat. And yet, probably becuase of the commercial and critical failure of this film, his score remains without a decent album release.

The films starts, inexplicably, without main title music, despite the opening scenes being dawn shots of people running on a beach, which Barry could have enhanced in a heartbeat. The first score music we hear is a full eight minutes into the film, during this brief shopping scene. Thankfully, it's instantly recognisable as vintage Barry.

Starring Cindy Pickett, Barry Primus and Joanna Cassidy. Directed by Roger Vadim, with an original score by the great John Barry.
