On June 11, 2020 at around 11 am, Danny Roman also known as Popeye, who had been a state prisoner since 1985, when he began serving a sentence of life without the possibility of parole for first-degree murder and was also a prominent member from the harpy 13s gang and Mexican mafia was sitting outside a prison yard at a substance abuse treatment facility in Corcoran California, at first the day was like any other in prison, wake up, eat, workout and continue the rest of your day politicking with other inmates or chilling in your cell. But unfortunately, this day played out a lot differently for Popeye. While on the yard, two inmates — Raul Alvarado and Edward Cisneros approach him and a tussle immediately begins and once the two overpower Popeye they started stabbing him multiple times around his stomach, back and as well as the face before retreating away from the area. Popeye was taken to the prison’s medical facility and surgeons tried treating him for his wounds but unfortunately he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Here’s the thing, Popeye was a highly ranking member of the Mexican mafia and the harpy’s, who ran drug operations, controlling his gang and several others throughout Los Angeles and his murder officially put an end to an era that came with numerous stories of murder, extortion, 6 figure drug operations, assassinations and a lot of other crazy shit, with all this occurring while he was in jail.
