A charity walk event was held in Yokohama City to eradicate hunger among children in Africa.
The event has been held since 2005, organized by a Yokohama-based NPO that supports the World Food Programme (WFP).
As the Tokyo International Conference on African Development will be held in Yokohama in August this year, a portion of the participation fee will be donated to provide school meals to children in Africa.
The charity walk had two courses, 8 km and 5 km, and over 4,700 people participated.
Former Yokohama DeNA Baystars manager Alex Ramirez also participated as a supporter and called for support.
Alex Ramirez: "All we can do is provide support. It is important to communicate well so that the power of our love can be delivered to Africa, and continue to deliver support from Japan."
More than 4.6 million yen was collected on this day, and school meals will be provided to approximately 150,000 African children.
