After nearly five months in the NICU, the moment Phylicia and Nathan had dreamed of finally arrived: their son Ethan was coming home.

Ethan went home on oxygen, requiring careful monitoring for about a year, but today, he's a vibrant, energetic child "running like the wind,” making the early months of ongoing oxygen support seem like distant memories.

While he ended up beating the odds, too many babies don’t. The US is the most dangerous high-income nation for childbirth, and every day two women die due to complications from pregnancy and childbirth, and two babies die every hour. The majority are women and babies of color.

"We didn't know we needed March of Dimes," Nathan shares. "But now we understand how critical their work is. They support not just babies, but entire families during one of the most challenging experiences of their lives."
