Some folks dislike this one because it's too poppy (including King Edward himself), but personally I dig the sugary sweetness of it. Even if it is a pop song, it's still very much a meaty & 'Van-Halenized' classic.

It's a great example of how Eddie was never resting during a song, there was always lots going on at any one time. Like keeping that bass note pedalling underneath those chords in the bridge, or playing the chords with tapped harmonics and creating a melody out of them.

I like the pre-chorus especially, as there's so much more happening than meets the eye (or should I say, ear). Everything feels finessed and refined, yet comes across with a raw spontaneity. Like a punk rock Mozart.

That tonic chord in the main riff just sounds so rich and full, equally due to both the Brown Sound & Ed's unique tuning.

I finally got myself a Strobo Plus HDC tuner, and downloaded some great 'sweetened' tunings from Allen Garber, including this one. It made all the parts sound more in-tune than before. Recommend checking it out 😎
