A Brief History of Chicken Breeds

Have you ever thought about where the breeds of chickens we have and love today came from? Most popular chicken breeds didn't exist until the late 19th Century. People didn't used to think of chickens as being 'breeds'. That all changed beginning in the 1840s as England and the USA were introduced to chickens imported from China. The crowd went wild! Everyone had to have these exotic new chickens, and after the dust settled on the chicken craze bubble, we were left with the foundation of the breeds we love today.
