FIRST OFF! I am a fan of DSLR Video Shooter. Caleb has a fantastic channel that has given me a lot of valuable information over the years...
However, today I put my like for DSLR Video Shooter aside and fairly reviewed his product the "SM7BS Microphone Mod Kit" which is a 3d printed mod kit that will take a handheld dynamic mic, fit it in the SM7BS enclosure and make it look similar to the Shure SM7b.
Everyone is obsessed with the SM7b, so this was Caleb's answer on how to get that look and save money... It's a solid idea and I was curious about how well it would work.
My first thought was:
If you stick a mic in an enclosure, get rid of the grill that was designed for it and use a different grill that is a different shape and material, it could change the tone of the mic. Also, with it being in an enclosure there could be issues with rattling, vibrations, and once again... a potential tone change. I was a little worried that there could be some complications when it came to this product... so I decided to buy an SM7bS mod kit on Gear Focus from Caleb Pike (WITH MY OWN MONEY) and test it out on my own! I wanted to see if any of my concerns were valid or if I was overreacting... I'll let you decide if any of my concerns were valid and if they matter to you!

NOTES:
I did want to clarify that I did in fact take each microphone's grill off before putting it in the SM7BS mod kit.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: I AM USING CALEB PIKES LUTS THROUGHOUT THIS WHOLE VIDEO. I FORGOT TO MENTION IT IN THE VIDEO, BUT I AM A BIG FAN OF HIS LUTS!
