40:00 I made it once as a child, (I think it was called “quince jam” rather than “marmalade”, but seemed to be the same thing.) It was a recipe related to one of the “American Girl” character dolls, from the magazine, though after 3 decades I couldn’t guess which.
My late Momma loved the idea of me learning as much as possible about different eras and cultures, so I was allowed to read the brand’s books and subscribe to the magazine—but she said a $90 doll was the most ridiculous thing she’d ever heard. (Fair enough, I can appreciate that now.) 🤷🏻‍♀️
I was the only one of my friends who didn’t have one or more of the dolls, but I knew more about all of them and their histories than the rich kids who collected them! It was a little frustrating at age 9 or so, but I thoroughly appreciate my Momma’s perspective, and alternative choices of spoiling me now. The dolls would surely be handed down to cousins, or sold or stored away, but I have many memories and knowledge and skills and even some related crafts I made which still make me happy at 41. 🤷🏻‍♀️🥰

So that is why that song has that name. "Lady Marmalade" I have puzzled over it for years. Quince is still very popular in Iberia. They make Membrillo with it, which is a kind of quince paste, rather than a jam. They use it as a filling in pastries, and you can have it with cheese and jamon as a tapa. My little Spanish neighbour used to take them all from the tree on my land and make it, then I would get given a jar as a kind of reciprocal thing.

A lot of misinformation about fasting. As long as you have water the average sized person can last 45 days. A lot more if you are over weight. The record for fasting is 380 (ish) days. Although the guy was huge to begin with. Look it up if you want more details. I've done 5 day fasts a few times and it is a lot easier than you would think. You just need to work up to it. :)
