Wet Black Walnut is hands down, my absolute favorite wood to turn. So relaxing and never disappoints. In this video, I let the wood do all the work and I just removed the unneeded wood to reveal a gorgeous bowl with a small foot and gentle ogee curve. The grain is spectacular with strong lines and all the colors of the rainbow and more, with wonderful figure on each side. Warping has already begun and will continue for many months, if not forever. I hope you enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed making it.

American Black Walnut – sawn from wet log
Dimensions:
5.62” x 6.00” at top
x 3.50” ↑
.12” wall thickness
.18” bottom thickness
1.88” x 2.00” x .20” tall foot

Conversion:
1 inch = 25.4mm

Sanded all with 150grit – 400grit sandpaper on the lathe
Let dry for 3 days
Hand sanded with 400grit – 600grit sandpaper
Finished with 2 coats of Mahoney’s Utility (1 day between and after)
Hand buffed with ACK’S Polish/Restoring Paste
