This time, we’re featuring SUB store Tokyo, located in Koenji, Tokyo.

SUB store Tokyo is a unique bookstore and record shop opened in 2015 by Andika Faisal in Koenji. The name stands for "Small Unique Bookstore," and the store now has locations in Bali, Yogyakarta, and Koenji. The Koenji branch includes a listening space where DJ events and live performances are held on weekends, creating a place for visitors to enjoy both music and culture. The record selection covers a wide range of genres, including rock, jazz, soul, funk, Japanese city pop, and new wave, with a popular section dedicated to obscure picks reflecting the owner’s personal taste. SUB store Tokyo values direct interaction with customers, as they do not offer online sales, focusing instead on building connections through in-person conversations.
