Are book bans censorship or caring? #dwhistoryandculture

In the US, the number of books removed from schools and libraries has doubled since 2022. The latest surge in book bans in the US - and also Argentina - is being driven by parents and conservative circles. A bitter conflict is raging over which books young people should get to read at school. 
What are the intentions behind this? What variations of book bans exist? And to what extent does this restrict freedom of expression?
