Team Celestron Presents: Madrona Marsh Preserve and Nature Center

Just a short walk from the Celestron headquarters in Torrance, CA, there’s a very special place that embodies a kindred passion for bird conservation and education: the Madrona Marsh Preserve and Nature Center. Surrounded by dense multi-family housing and one of the nation’s largest shopping malls, Madrona is the last remaining freshwater marsh in Los Angeles County. Like much of Southern California, the land was once used for oil drilling and at one time, the soil was even coated with liquid asphalt to kill all plants and wildlife. But in the 1970s, a group of community volunteers began an ambitious project to restore the native flora and fauna to the area.
