If My People Who Are Called By My Name Will Humble Themselves and Pray

Most of the text of this piece is found in the Old Testament, in the Second Book of Chronicles, chapter 7, verse 14. This is part of God’s promise to King Solomon. From the New American Bible, the notes state, “…All this is in keeping with the chronicler’s purpose of stressing the highest importance of the temple and its worship. He wishes to impress upon us the splendor of God’s dwelling and the magnificence of the liturgy of sacrifice, prayer, and praise offered there….” The verse reads, “And if my people, upon whom my name has been pronounced, humble themselves and pray, and seek my presence, and turn from their evil ways, I will hear them from heaven and pardon their sins and revive their land.”

A small portion of text of this piece is from the New Testament, Gospel of Saint Matthew, chapter 6, verse 33, “But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

The music is delivered by an “army” of musicians helping to lead persons into the Presence of the Most High God in 1975. The “army” is led by the late William Paul Ferrin.
