近江神宮は、滋賀県大津市にある神社。
天智天皇6年（667年）に天智天皇が奈良の飛鳥から遷都した近江大津京跡に鎮座する。
昭和13年（1938年）に昭和天皇の勅旨によって近江神宮の創建が決定、皇紀2600年記念事業の一環として、昭和15年（1940年）に創建された。
御祭神は大津京を建都した天智天皇。
広大な森に囲まれた境内には、楼門や近江造の本殿などが荘厳な雰囲気を漂わせている。
天智天皇は、憲法の源をなす近江令を制定し、学校制度を創始、産業振興を図るなど、のちの発展を導いたことで、「開運の神」「導きの神」として崇敬されている。
また、天智天皇は日本で初めて水時計をつくったことから時計の始祖として知られ、境内には時計館宝物館が設置され、漏刻や日時計なども設けられている。
小倉百人一首の第1首を詠んだ天智天皇にちなみ、近江神宮は競技かるたの聖地となっている。
毎年1月には、競技かるたの「名人位・クイーン位決定戦」が行われており、選手や愛好家たちにとっては憧れの場所となっている。

Omi Jingu Shrine is located in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture.
It is located on the site of the Omi-Otsukyo capital, which was relocated from Asuka in Nara by Emperor Tenchi in667.
In 1938, the Emperor Showa decreed the construction of Omi Jingu Shrine, and it was built in 1940 as part of a project to commemorate the 2600th anniversary of the Emperor's reign.
The deity is Emperor Tenchi, who founded the Otsu-kyo Capital.
Surrounded by a vast forest, the precincts of the shrine are solemnly decorated with a tower gate and an Omi-zukuri main shrine.
Emperor Tenchi is revered as the “God of Fortune” and “God of Guidance” because he established the Omi Code, the source of the Constitution, founded the school system, promoted industry, and led other later developments.
Emperor Tenchi is also known as the founder of clocks, as he created Japan's first water clock, and a clock museum and treasure house are located on the grounds of the temple, which also houses a leakage clock and sundial.
Omi Shrine is a mecca for competitive karuta, named after Emperor Tenchi, who composed the first poem of the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu.
Every January, the "Master and Queen Championships" are held, making it a coveted spot for players and enthusiasts.
