Washington Today (4-15-25): Harvard Univ. has $2B in grants frozen for defying Trump Admin demands

President Donald Trump suggests Harvard University lose its tax-exempt status after the school refuses to comply with Administration's demands on ending DEI and auditing academic departments for 'viewpoint diversity.' The Trump Administration has frozen over $2 billion in grants and contracts to Harvard.

On this Tax Day, we hear from House Members and Senators on the future of federal tax cuts and spending cuts, and IRS budget and staff.

An antitrust trial against social media company Meta is underway in Washington. The Federal Trade Commission alleges Meta crushed its competition when it bought Instagram and WhatsApp. We will talk about the case with Lauren Finer, senior policy reporter for The Verge, who has been in the courtroom. Another federal court hearing in the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland man deported to a prison in El Salvador. The Trump Admin says he is an illegal immigrant and gang member. The Supreme Court has ordered steps be taken to facilitate his return.
