Kodiak Island in November is a magical place! I've been there when it is over 60 degrees out and also below 10 degrees.
The Sitka deer population fluctuates to extremes after a harsh winter. Fish and Game biologists estimate at times that 70% of the deer will die from winter kill off if there is a lot of snow. Last winter the deer population on the island got hit with an above average die off.
Derek and I are going to head out regardless and put on over 40 miles of hiking in search of some mature bucks. Let's go!!!
