A U.S. Marine Corps Pool Function is a crucial pre-boot camp event designed to mentally and physically prepare future Marines—known as poolees—for the intense challenges of recruit training. Led by drill instructors and recruiters, these functions simulate parts of boot camp, including physical fitness tests, close order drills, obstacle course elements, and even introductory lessons in discipline and Marine Corps values. It’s where civilians begin their transformation, building the mindset, strength, and teamwork needed to earn the title United States Marine.
